jeez, every show provokes feedback, hope that's cool with you. I didn't know (being from Germany and not that much into the acting scene) he was from Texas and came through with his own script. isn't Matt McConnaghey (sp?) also from Texas? Also very competitive.
I think your story telling is really cool, great voice and dramatic angle – maybe you should write your own script as well ;-)

Jennifer,

That's great insight!!
I actually totally agree with you. There are so many things I admire about Owen's path.
I just lost my mind a little bit that day.
I have since changed my perception about "success" or at least I'm trying to.
Thanks for listening Jennifer!

Hi Tim!
Thanks for making such an interesting Pod Cast, I enjoyed listening to it. I found the link to it on http://www.the-frat-pack.com/
I was left absolutely dumbfounded by your last statement though. Owen Wilson is my favorite actor! While I was taking a really heavy course load to finish my BSN degree I chose not to make time for friends, I knew I would be too tempted to socialize and lose focus. My plan worked, I finally finished the degree at the age of 35 with a decent GPA. Anyway, during that semester I read every interview with Owen I could, maybe making a grown-up make-believe friend out of him to make it through that semester. I've read Owen himself has read about President xxx, I forget now, one of the earlier less mentioned ones. (Taft? maybe...) He also knows alot about Mark Twain's life too. So he has a few "heros" he's read up on too, so no harm. Anyway, I can tell you from all the interviews I've read:
I would bet money Owen was "jealous" of YOU on both of those days. Especially the stairs, Owen and his brother Luke have said in many interviews that Owen LOVES to compete, especially in anything athletic. I don't think he meant to be a snob about the "do you know who I am?" line, I hope not, for his sake. Did you know that Owen also used to clean pools? He's mentioned it in several interviews, he usually jokes that he pictured it as a gig that would lead to many PlayGirl like scenes, but didn't turn out that way. No doubt he was looking at you and wishing he could eat his sandwich (he was alone) in peace like you probably do when you are there. He probably thought you were looking down on him, and that's why you thought nothing of going after him when he was alone and trying to make him feel stupid about the ceramic plate.
But yet you saw BOTH situations as Owen "winning" both times???!! Both times YOU had the upper hand, and both times Tim, YOUR actions towards Owen sound mean and snobby. Tim, you might have been thinking one way, but Owen can't read your thoughts, he can only witness your actions. So, in my opinion, Owen didn't "win again".
It's ironic, it reminds me of the scene in Zoolander where Dereck and Hansel become friends. I wish you could have just talked to Owen, he really is, just like yourself, a really nice guy.
I hope you get past the resentment, truth is none of us really gets everything. I try to be grateful for the things that I do have, I think that helps. I'm finally done with that degree! I don't have a house, a spouse, or kids, but then I also don't have the troubles that go along with those things. Owen has his fame, you get to have your privacy and expert skill on those stairs that you love. Owen travels, you get to be a hero to two young kids every day. I wonder if could re-evaluate your perception of "successful". I have worked many years as a nurse, I've taken care of many people as they died, believe me, it's not about the money. Like the final scene of Citizen Kane, it's about the things, friends, movies, hobbies, and even some family members you loved along the way.
Best Wishes Tim Coyne, and THANKS again for the podcast :-)
Hey! I usually get emails when someone posts a comment but I haven't been getting them. I just randonly noticed your comment. I totally agree - being able to laugh at one's own absurdity . . . well, that may just be the beginning of bliss.

Thanks for you laughter and devotion. I hope you stick around.
I laughed for hours - until my competetive jock friend said, and I quote "hey you insensitive asshole, you missed the point, it's not funny, it's serious stuff." I most certainly agree that I'm an insensitive asshole, and that it's serious stuff, but it IS funny, and I stand by that.

For anyone who has ever stalked their bliss (or any of the Wilson Brothers) through some very dark places and still managed to not step off a tall bridge, being able to laugh at the absurd twists and switchbacks of our life paths may very well BE the beginnings of bliss found.

I LOVE YOUR STUFF
Wow! Another "chick". Yes, it's pretty shocking when you get that card played on you like that. I think "Mr. Wilson" was totally stressed and trying to escape from a press junket and there was this guy (me) busting his ass about a ceramic plate. I'll give him one more chance and then I'm throwing him in the ahole column.

Another chick weighing in here. I started listening when you and Dan Klass swapped interviews.

I've got my own "do you know who I am" story. Nobody famous, just a middle level exec trying to bully a junior programmer. Anybody who tries to play that card can be immediately labelled an @$$hole, in my book. And I still loathe that guy to this day.

Wow! I have a female listener (unless Gail is a male name in Scotland) Very cool! AND you live in Scotland! Thanks so much for commenting. Wait! Hunter? As in, Mark Hunter? Anyway, I appreciate the support. Brace yourself! I'm really going to try to get brutally honest as I move forward. We'll see how it goes. Thanks Gail!

Gotta go work on the legs!
I am loving this podcast, especially now it got personal! As someone from Scotland, L.A is this far away place where movies are made and the sun shines all the time. It is absolutely fascinating to get these honest, down to earth accounts of behind-the-scenes L.A. Keep it up!

p.s Personally, I think its a good thing you want manly legs :-)

Grant! Great to hear from you buddy! Thanks for listening! Sorry I couldn't make the LA Podcasters meeting last night. I heard you were making a celebrity appearance. Good luck this weekend at the Mac Gathering. "The Radio Adventures of Doctor Floyd" rocks!
Hi Jason!

My experience with Owen was several years ago and I think he was just trying to get away for a few minutes from a press junket for a film he was doing. I couldn't quite capture the nuance of the situation in my recording but I think it was one of those moments where he was trying to escape and there I was, busting his balls about a plate. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt but something tells me that I'll bump into him again. I'll keep you posted. Don't mess with my stairs though!

Thanks for the feedback Jason! Sorry about those Kings!

greetings from sacramento.
i really enjoyed your most recent show, i listened to it on the way back into work this afternoon.
this was one of those rare podcasts that you find yourself laughing and smiling to. i really liked the honesty in this show and found it refreshing. i'm used to most casts puting up a front and pretending to be someone they're not.
on another note, i can't believe owen pulled that ridiculous "you know who i am?" line.
i thought he was different than most celebs, guess not.
great podcast.
later,
Daniel,

So much of what I was talking about in this episode had to do with me as a 16 year old. It is true Daniel. The experiences you are having right now are so meaningful and important. I'm so glad you're listening. They're all good though! I'm thankful for those teen years and they fuel my creative life today. Honestly, that's why I'm so impressed with what you are able to do at such a young age. Awesome!!! My creative life really didn't kick in until my mid 20's.
Concord in the house!!!! AB's rival!!!!

Great to hear from you Jovan! Yeah, these "unkempt" episodes have been exciting for me. Why hold back? Brace yourself though. I think may get more and more honest about career, love, you name it.

The video thing is a definite goal. It's just a matter of money, time, editing, etc. but I'm definitely going to do it. Stay tuned!

Thanks Jovan!
Hi Tim

I totally agree with Jovan here. The episode hit me hard and personal as well.

It made me think in another direction. Made me think more about what's going on in my own life. For some reason the last two podcasts of yours changed me. I guess it's the pure honesty.

It changed the way I process my thoughts and feelings. It changed the way that I feel about the situation I am in right now. It made me wake up a little bit more.

I'm only 16, but man, I can already connect some of the dots from your adult life, with my own teenage life. I guess alot of what we experience and go through as teenagers, shape us as grown ups.

Talk to you later

Hi Tim-

Wow, this episode hit me hard. You did an amazing job painting the picture. You laid your feelings of humiliation, pride and dejection out there for the world to witness and that is a very brave and difficult thing to do.

I like that you are now branching out into more personal episodes about your life. I first discovered your podcast through your many interesting interviews, but I now find myself wanting to know more about your story. Thanks for being willing to share that with us.

You mentioned in your interview with Dan Klass that you have been mulling over whether or not to produce a video podcast. If you have the time and resources I think you should go for it! What better way to expand the creative freedom you experience through The Hollywood Podcast than by producing your own video podcast shows? I'd also imagine that as an actor, any way you can to get your face out there is good exposure.

Anyway, from one Masshole to another (I was born and raised in Concord, MA), keep up the great work!
