PROJECT ???? - “DAY ONE”
A couple years ago I announced a New Year’s resolution.
“This year I will have a four month relationship. Four months!”
Believe it or not, this was an ambitious goal for me.
For years, I had believed that I couldn’t waste time with love until I became someone, until I was a Hollywood success story. That wasn’t working so I woke up and tried something new.
Announcing my goal was my way of holding myself accountable, of focussing my energy and committing to something. It was an amazing feeling.
Yesterday, I felt the same way when I announced “Project ????” on Joseph Jaffe’s “Across the Sound” podcast. Optimistic. Excited.
I don’t know how “Project ????” will end but I did achieve that New Year’s resolution. I call her “the hot chick” in my “Unkempt” storytelling series and she’s an amazing woman. We broke up and we hadn’t seen each other for several months . . . until yesterday.
I was driving home on my scooter after visiting El Cholo, the bar that her and I met at and fell in love at, the bar that I hadn’t been to since the break-up. While driving home from El Cholo, I suddenly found my Yamaha Zuma right behind her Audi TT. We pulled off at the next street and chatted for a few minutes. It stirred up a lot of feelings inside of me.
When I met “the hot chick” things weren’t exactly great in my life. I was sleeping on a pilates mat. I had a room mate. I didn’t own a towel or a pillow. My income was pathetic. I was (and still am) driving a scooter. It didn’t matter. She believed in me and she still does.
“Project ????” is about more than getting on TV or proving the nay-sayers and non-believers wrong. It’s about proving the believers right.
Over the next several weeks and months I will keep you posted on this project through Twitter, audio/video podcasts, and text blogs.
Leave a comment and tell me which show I should focus in on.
Criminal Minds? House? CSI? Shark?

I listened the podcast… it was really, really interesting… While I live
in Georgia (and have no connection to hollywood) I’m pulling for you..
actually, I’m amazed that someone from big media hasn’t “picked up”
your story and run with it… As for my vote… I say go for CSI…
but I’d keep my options open.. I’m thinking along the lines of
Northern Exposure or Picket Fences… something quirkly, w/ some
mystery / comedy…
Heck.. a reality show about a guy who tries to podcast his way
to fame would be cool…
Whatever happens, its cool to see someone trying something ‘outside of the
box’…
Much luck,
NCN
I’m doing everything I can!
Go, Tim, Go!
Man vs. Wild may have an opening soon. Seriously, good luck, Tim. Hope all goes well and your audience is pulling for you.
Yo NCN
We go way back. Great to hear from you. I love the ideas.
Thanks Joseph. Thanks Kris.
Tim
I’d say focus on CSI, since there are often roles for “dirtbags.” I’m psyched to follow all this. Good luck, Tim!
Hmm, I only watch “House”, so I’m not sure I can give a balanced choice. I wonder thought, if CSI is overexposed and going to become passe.
I would say go with whichever show your manager thinks she has the best “in” on and then on whichever show is the trendiest and cutting edge.
Good luck regardless, ya know we’re backing you.
Hey, buddy! You know I’m pulling for you. And I’m right along side you on this side of the tug-a-war. My opinion would be to go with CSI. Like someone else said, there are plenty of “featured dirtbags” and such a pervasive show would look good on any actor’s resume. Also, the connections could carry over to all the other CSI dramas and their show runners (Veasey, Shankar, Donahue… they’re all tooting each other’s horns).
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to catch up on your podcasts!
Hey. Thanks everybody. Things are moving forward so far. We’ll see what happens. I hope I get a shot. Thanks for the support. I need it.
