Tim,
I must respond here, coming to this subject as a professionally trained, albeit unemployed chef: corn starch in gravy is THE WAY TO HEARTBREAK. I can help your bro. I can’t stand to hear a man defeated by gravy.

It’s sad, but the gravy can ruin your whole day. It happens. Gravy can take. you. down.
Hello ladies. gravy can indeed take. you. down.
traci - i’m going to pass that along to my brother.
in the future, what should he use?
next time, instead of corn starch, try corn ethanol. the gravy will burn cleaner.
I love it! I love to see that Chris is cooking Thanksgiving dinner, regardless of the gravy!
The secret to good turkey gravy is COLD water mixed with either corn starch or flower and then blended in slowly to slightly boiling drippings that have had fat skimmed off the top by spoon. Thicken with additional mix to your liking. Delicious with no lumps.
OOPS, I misspelled flour. It’ not “flower”.
My brother has been diligently taking notes. Thanks everybody.
Tim
