I’d like to say I’ve grown a bit since I did this episode a couple years ago. Not sure if that’s true. I interviewed Strauss a while back and I think was influenced by some if his thoughts and writings. Maybe we’ll meet for beers at some point and discuss. Too much to go into.

Thanks for recommending this one. It was even better than the essay I read. You know Speed Dating is the fast food of dating. I don’t trust it and/or the sites.

I still find it interesting that you were called the Monster Man. One thing I truly believe is you need to limit the people you discuss your relationship/break-ups with. People love you but I think they secretly hope you will fail. Plus, it makes you look bad if you get back with them.

I was strongly affected by your story. I can strongly relate to the situation, as I’m sure many can, but your storytelling voice made this especially affecting.

Wow. You moved me nearly to tears. I haven’t cried in years, and if I knew how to, I most certainly would have. All that’s to say that you have really outdone yourself, my friend.

First with this podcast – the best you’ve done yet imao. Really amazing way you have of telling stories – kept me in it right to the end and then a perfect build and finish. Again, really great – albeit so tragic and sad. But I guess that’s unfortunately what so often makes a great story.

I leave LA in a month after nearly 2 years, moving back to Sydney, Australia with my Wife and 2 year old boy.

About 12 years ago now, I left my job of 12 years in banking to chase love. I moved from Melbourne to Sydney – because of a Woman.
I said, Fuck it, she’s more important than pushing money around via a PC.

We head into our 10th year of marriage and I love it . I am a stay at home Dad , best job I ever had mate.
You know why?
Because I said fuck it and went against every safe judgemnt I had, and took a chance.

We lived on the French Riviera together for 6 months because we said “fuck it” and left our jobs for 6 months.
We moved here with a 4 month old baby, because we said “fuck it”, lets take a chance.

I think that these unkempt episodes are the greatest! I could only hope to have the ability to put something together this well.

Emotions aside, your music selection for this episode are amazing… and you can almost tell what’s coming by the music or have your feeling summarized in the songs you pick. Your feelings and how you put them into words are amazing and you know how to put it in a great package.

With the emotions, whatever happens, you got to have a great time with someone you love. And that’s what’s good.

I know those feelings well, though my situation is different. For a while I used to be lost and mostly negative but when I met an insightful, beautiful girl at work my world changed. We became friends and we worked on several video/film projects together. She gave me encouragement and believed in me. She helped me so generously and for so long. I had (and still proudly pursue) vivid dreams of filmmaking and I helped her find her own direction towards that as well. I was truly in love and finally knew what that meant.

She didn’t want to go beyond friendship, though. Also at the time I was just starting to really grasp how deep my feelings could go and I couldn’t handle it. It was overwhelming. No other experience has ever compared. No other experience will ever compare, as it should be.

To vicariously live through you as you gave your eloquent remembrance in “The Jester Card” gave me pause. What if I saw her again? What would I be more afraid of, things between us remaining the same or having changed?

As you ended by reciting the Hot Chick’s text message I was directly touched by the heartbreak you must’ve felt at that moment. Then as the closing music soothed my emotional shock I slowly recollected my thoughts and feelings and I began to think “What passion! I wish I could come across the love of my life again. To have even the slightest chance of seeing her again much less being with her is worth the risk of a jaded heart. This man is alive. I am in awe of Tim Coyne.”
