You’re definitely right about me needing some time to pass before talking about something. The meaning and connection of events emerge when I let it sit for a bit. In this case, yes, I think the call was actually made before I recorded The Muffin. At that point I decided that the message was going to be fun for listeners to hear regardless of my conclusion in The Muffin. I figured it also might lead up nicely to the live performance because listeners would know that I was going to go back to the bakery. Sometimes these things work. Sometimes they don’t. It’s not like I have a team of consultants hovering over my creative decisions. Making it up as I go;)

I didn’t read this as a contradiction so much as an anachronism — Tim mentioned in a recent interview that he tries to let time pass between living through something and reporting, so he can reflect on the events and decide what they mean to him. He was obviously still sorting through it when this call was made. It’s a confusing timeline, but this call must have taken place before he recorded last week’s episode, and the peaceful state of fucked-blueberry-enlightenment came sometime between.

Four times you endured this before stating your complaint? Your patience is admirable, Tim. That’s a whole lot of plain corn muffin to wash down with a morning gin and juice. And you are absolutely correct - you certainly do not know how few blueberries your muffin has until you’ve bitten into it. Such is the way with life. Some of us have forgotten that our muffins should even have blueberries in the first place. It is time to rise up. Congratulations on your determination. You were wonderfully polite to the woman posing as the manager in this phone call. She didn’t even get nervous when you said that you’d “take another stab at it.” I do hope that you’re next muffin is filthy rich with berries. That’s change we can believe in!

You know, Tim, most people wouldn’t bother with the muffin follow up and I didn’t think you would given the “Fuck the Blueberries” statement. Some people might think you have too much time on your hands in doing so, however, I do not. This is a matter of principle not the number of blueberries, or free baked goods. I was particularly amused by her surprised reaction that the other manager said he was going to call you back. I myself enjoy going up against the establishment and I support you efforts to keep those muffin makers in check.

Yeah I was wondering about the iTunes situation myself yesterday (Vista messed up my library and I had to re-subscribe to everything) - couldn’t find THP on iTunes. I’m sure it’ll sort out eventually.

As for Esprit De Corn… Heh, I have to agree with Firas; I was cringing the whole way through but had to get to the bottom of it. I think it’s just testament to your actor’s spirit that you can stand tall and make that call. Not sure I could… not without significant intake of caffeine, anyway.

Just wanted to let you know that I love your podcasts. I got an iPod back in my life after an unfortunate theft, and the first thing I downloaded was your episodes (But for some reason iTunes is saying “the item is not available from the US store.” You may wanna talk to Steve Jobs about that–maybe it’s an artifact of all the iPhone 3G craziness).

Anyway, keep sharing with us. Your honesty is refreshing as hell. And you’ve got a damn sexy voice too (and I’m not a gal that throws the word sexy around).
