Holy Holy Holy Shit!!!
Fucking awesome.
Amazing! I loved it. Tim Coyne you rock!!! It was by far one of the greatest nights ever!
Turner out!
This was another great episode.
Hey Man
Great storytelling. Keep swinging for the fences…
Cheers,
–Lance
Another great episode Tim. You’re a great storyteller and now I have this craving for Blueberry Corn Muffins.
I’m so happy we met in Kingston and I started listening.
Take care,
Mark
Awesome Story. Great episode. Can’t wait for the “Next morning” Story (hope there is one). cheers, Martin
Nice….really amazing Tim. I see what you mean about facebook. I kinda hate it. Even my old arch nemesis/bully from high school is on there and tried to friend me. I still haven’t done it yet cause the pain is still felt from that guy, but maybe it’s time to forgive. GRRRR….
Hi Tim,
My husband Mauricio told me about this podcast. He is a fan of your work and he is always trying to get me to listen to all of them… not a big fan of podcasts lately I have to admit… but I did listen to the one about the muffins because it was so funny to hear about someone that my husband really connects to talk about something that he is always obsessing about “blueberry cornmeal muffins”. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that this is the 4th time I listen to the whole thing, this podcast its just AMAZING, so human, so real. Something that we all somehow can relate to. I thank you for sharing this.
Marga “out”
Thanks everybody for taking the time to leave a comment. Much appreciated.
Shane/Brent - Thanks guys.
Mark - So glad we met as well. I can’t wait to reconnect in Kingston.
Martin - No “next morning” show brotha. Sorry. Gonna have to create that one on your own;)
Ben - That’s hilarious that your nemesis is trying to friend you. Hey. Maybe you’re right. Time to forgive . . . Maybe.
Hey Marga - I’m glad Mauricio finally wore you down and that you actually made it through a few episodes. I hope you stick around.
Coyne out.
It’s interesting how the muffins have played a large part in the last few episodes. Is almost to perfect how life plays out. I mean how all these small things weave together constantly (gives the impression that fate actually exists). Does she listen to the podcast, perhaps?
I was trying to figure out what sort of gift she was going to give you, an old picture, a mixtape….I fucking love that she hooked you up with blueberry muffins! My only question is whether or not they met your high standard? See both you and Mark back at PAB09!
As always, you’re a master! Laughed out loud the whole time. Told Doug he HAD to listen!
Man, another killer. You tell it so real, so authentic.
uhh random question. Are those clips of songs, songs of your brother’s bands… that song at 9:29 is catchy (especially since I have listened to this podcast a quite a few times). Is there any way I can like buy that song digitally….
wait crap that is for the mirage episode (should have mentioned that)
Wow! Beautiful. Really, Tim, I was so touched by this. And by the way, I love Jenny. Coyne in, yeah, Coyne in.
great to hear from you Abbe. wow. thank you so much.
coyne out;)
Thank you for the great story!
Beautiful Tim.
Beautiful, brave and inspirational.

paul/daniel
thanks so much guys.

Tim,
I just listened to your #30 “The Fire”. Great podcast!! Very insightful. And by the way, I don’t know how you count 6 cousins especially with my being an only child….you with no Uncles. I can only think of Brian and Kelly W. Oh, sorry, Robbie’s sons. I forgot about them.
I wonder now what that picture of your mother and me in happy days is all about…where, when, how old? I’d love to see it. Sorry to repeat but I have no pictures and you know why.
Back to the podcast. Very touching ending and nicely done.
Although what I’m about to say is not really similar to any of the preceding, an old movie came to mind…..”Somewhere in Time”, starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plummer. The old woman at the beginning of the movie approaches the Reeve character, Richard Collyer, at a book signing gathering of his and whispers in his ear, “Come back to me”. The story rather touchingly goes on from there. Decent movie with a large loyal fan cult or following.
Love Dad
I loved your podcast …Your words flowed so well , you tell a great story … Keep up your great work … Take care…
Coyner,
“The Fire” was another great podcast. Your honesty in regards to how long does your friend stay before enough is enough, was powerful. You are able to capture the truth of human emotion and all of it’s depth with amazing ability. I do believe that in both “The Jester Card” and “The Fire”, I laughed hysterically and also reflected upon my own strengths and weaknesses in my relationships. You have an incredible gift of story telling/memories sharing. And a great ass.
wow, to good to believe. What are you again? Oh, a writer
Good work buddy.
Hans
Thanks so much Dad, Rene, Sam and Hans.
Hey “Sam B.” Who are you? I get the feeling we know each other because you called me “Coyner” and you commented on my ass;)
That was superb, great story telling. You need to read a book by Ben Elton called Past Mortem, about these folk who are in a Friends’ Reunited group and start to get ‘bumped off!’
I have it on audiobook, pretty clever!
Cheers,
Graham
Tim, Can you contact me.. I created something for your show.. I wanted to show it too you.
-Richard
blueberry corn muffins
Superb episode again, Tim. Great storytelling. Speaking of which… what do you think makes great storytelling? Is it the transparency and authenticity, or something else entirely…
Graham - I just ordered PAST MORTEM from Amazon. Great to hear from you and thank you!
Juho - Thanks so much. Great to hear from you. Good question.
I’m hesitant to expound on storytelling since I’m always scared that I won’t be able to come up with anything interesting ever again. I have tons of thoughts on this topic but there are two questions that come to my mind often when putting together an Unkempt.
“Why now?”
“Then what?”
As you’ve noticed, I have no problem with bringing up a story from the past but never just for the heck of it. Why now? For me, it always has to relate to something I’m dealing with in my life right now. Also, I do jump around a lot from story to story within an episode but I try to have some bigger story to hang those small stories on. If the clothesline was the big story then the hangers or cloths on the clothes line would be the little side stories I might spiral into once in a while. But the stories from the past always feed into what I’m dealing with right now (or at least that’s what I’m trying to do).
The “then what?” is what makes me turn the page in a book, or keep watching a movie, or stay engaged in a story. It’s the suspense. I want to know what happens next. So, even if “The Fire” starts out a little slow for someone, I’m hoping they might give it a chance because it’s likely that Jenny Turner is going to come back into the story because I’m traveling back home, to where she lives.
Believe me, I’m not successful at all of this all of the time but those are two things that are important to me when an Unkempt starts cooking in my head.
I actually really like talking about this and I could go on but I’m going to stop so I don’t sound like a complete ass. I’m just doing my thing.
Tim thanks for the podcast and the courage for being “real”. You make me feel like I’m not alone. Your honesty expressed on this podcast is very liberating and beatiful. I wish I had the courage to be so honest.
