kips a great acting talent and can adjust to various roles.hes a comic actor too if needed and has a way of saying alot while expressing much emotion while virtually quiet even.hes a rising star and i can see why.

I’d love to know the parents who reamed Jim Shearer’s ass for taking you to “Fast Times….”. You must tell me sometime on the phone. They’re probably the same parents who would have reamed your mother’s ass for taking a bunch of you guys to see “Scarface” with Al Pacino. Nothing like a nice Brian DePalma movie for a group of 10 year olds.

Excellent story crafting and storytelling (a rarity in Hollywood!). I really enjoy your podcasts and can’t help but think that they can somehow be launching pads for live performances. Have you done that or have any plans to (like The Moth events, themoth.org).

I was thinking when you got to the part about the student director going off with the security guard, “Just do it! Do it now!” So when he corralled you all and pushed, I thought “Yeah baby, go for it, don’t be weenies!”

So will you get to see this when it’s complete?

I discovered you about a month ago. I’m an actor who is moving next month to Los Angeles after 10 years in New York City, and I just wanted to say — your podcasts are excellent, dude. They’re just what I want to hear — good stories, great details about the audition, the job, the meeting, the process, the city, the people. I’m enjoying them immensely. Thank you for doing them. Awesome, awesome Unkempt episode. I just realized what makes these things you do so great for anyone, not just your fellow LA dwellers. Even a schmuck like me sitting here in freakin’ Helsinki, Finland.

It’s called ‘therapeutic metaphor’. Meaning, the details in well-crafted story parallel the listener’s situation enough to perceive it more clearly, or to see new aspects of it. You do it well.

Anthony - Not sure about the “wanting to be famous” thing. I think people desperately want to be validated. They want the world, the powers that be, to deem them worthy of a career. Sometimes a certain level of fame comes with that. The ego is a tough thing to be reckoned with. For sure.
Rob - Thanks. I was hoping the ending would come as a surprise.
Janet - Great to hear from you. Damone certainly was an inspiration.
Ron - Awesome re: Ronald Jenkees. Love that guys music. I’m glad you hooked him up with a sale.

Awesome Unkempt episode !

I once directed a scene in a small movie myself and my friends made where we “borrowed” a large room on our school’s campus. As we were setting up for filming we were interrupted by a passing janitor who was suspicious of us. He wondered if we were setting up for the event that was taking place in this room later that evening. Of course, we said “Yes”.

BTW, I’m currently listening to the Ronald Jenkees album I just purchased because of your show. You have great music selection.

Looking forward to the next episode.

I really liked the serendipity of that story.Following your bliss comes to mind.Do you feel that most young actors and directors now days, are not as dedicated to the craft,all they want is be famous?I see as an actor that I can get caught up in my own ego, and lose sight of the bigger picture.I had to learn to put my mind and ego at rest,and listen and learn more,so I can dedicate myself to becoming a better actor.I like the definition of luck is good fortune,but its also when preparation meets opportunity.
